VADO VULGO VEDITA 2017, BRA, 22 min

a film by Andréia Pires & Leonardo Mouramateus

Vando (aka Vedita) has not been seen for a while in the streets of Barra.

Vs LOOKING FOR V

The first time I watched “Vando Vulgo Vedita” (2017) by Andréia Pires and Leonardo Mouramateus, I thought about adventure and about the work of collective mourning.

I thought that the film reflects an idea of path, memory, incorporation and journey.
I thought about how the film begins and how it ends: the beginning is a trip and the end is crossing a bridge. It seems that nothing has changed but everything changes. Somehow, the film is the collective mourning of a group of friends, their way to resist the violence in their friend V’s disappearance. This process, this work, involves the multiplication of his body in various identities and meanings. This is its journey. As cited in the poem, after the body dies, love flows.

In other words:
VVV is a poem about the limits of love after a hot takeout in the middle of the street.
VVV is a film that pulsates between friendship, sharing and collective mourning.
VVV is a community of friends re-signifying the disappearance of V.
It is remembrance, search, incorporation and transformation of the world where the violence he has suffered resides.
VVV is a group’s desire for freedom, making love-mourning at the crossing point between the Ceará river and the sea.
VVV is this idea of collective resignification of losses in a world where violence reigns, as a way of finding and elaborating hypotheses of a different world.

After having rewatched “Vindo Vulgo Vedita”, I think: the end is never the end.
